Instructor Patrick Assalone - the famous #AngryTrader - is a Target Trading Academy co-founder and the Modern Market Profile expert. Pat has developed a process-driven, rules-based futures trading methodology, equally appropriate for beginning students and professional traders.

He has an incredibly unique background, including being a World Extreme Fighting Champion. Don’t mistaken his directness and aggression for lack of skill; he spent years perfecting the art of trading, both as a trader and a trading instructor.

In addition to his trading experience, Pat possesses over twenty years of experience in the financial markets, and had a range of certifications including the Series 7 (GSRE) exam, the Series 3 (NCFE) and a license to sell Collateralized Debt Obligations.

Today, Patrick has dedicated his life to educating and empowering his students. Contextual understanding of the market and trading discipline are the core of his methodology. Dedicated to teaching trading the “right way,” Patrick is honest, direct and holds his students to the highest standards. His goal is to mold his students into competent, skilled traders who can trade confidently on their own.

The Market Profile trading is based on charting to observe the two-way auction process in a way that - at least theoretically - reveals patterns in behavior. Our method teaches the trader is to capitalize on these pattern movements.

Over the years, Pat earned his moniker “#AngryTrader” and he wears it with pride. Most students assume that the name stuck because of his teaching style, which is aggressive and challenging. Pat’s teaching style, while unorthodox, is extremely effective and has lead to hundreds of successful students over the years. The irony is that isn’t the origin of his name, #AngryTrader.

A long time martial artist, Pat’s mindset stems from his early days of Gracie Jiu Jitsu, and the “Gracie Challenge” - the Gracie martial artists would challenge other martial arts schools to “open fights” to prove that their martial art, Jiu Jitsu, was superior. This Gracie Challenge lead to the now famous UFC and MMA world. Pat lived this world early on, and the mindset stuck with him.

Pat applied this mindset to all aspects of his life, including his trading style. He would regularly challenge  other traders, head to head, tens of thousands of dollars at risk, to prove which trading style was superior.

The response? He was dubbed the “angry trader” for aggressively challenging others and calling out their mistakes.  To this day, Pat will challenge naysayers and doubters to prove his method is truly the best. Students of Pat have learned to take pride in his name, and their success speaks for itself.
